We would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your messages of support and kindness. It is obvious that live local music will never fully recover without a great deal of intervention and that many aspects of what made smaller live shows profitable have been permanently altered. Among those hit hardest by the ecconomic downturn resulting from COVID are music venues that are the lifeblood of many local musicians. In response, AJAYmusic has been exploring new ways to promote our artists and musical talent and is dedicated to strengthening the music scene here in Hamilton with whatever tools we have at our disposal. Now, more that ever, we need to work at all levels to protect the citys' most unique resource: Its incredible music and art community. Some of this help could come in the form of subsidies for smaller venues when they hire local, and certainly by setting a fair minimum wage for artists employed at city events and even prioritizing local content for events subsidized by the city of Hamilton. Rest assured, music will continue to thrive in this city as it always has, with or without help from local government, and by working together as artists we can come back stronger and more unified than ever.
